About the Common Used Beneficiation Methods

As we all know, the common used beneficiation methods include the gravity separation, flotation separation, magnetic separation, and electrostatic separation. Now Hongxing experts will introduce these four methods in detail.
1. The gravity separation.
The gravity separation is based on the difference of relative density of mineral to separate the materials. The mineral particles with different densities will get different fluid power and different mechanical force in the movement medium (including water, air and heavy liquid), causing a suitable loose stratification and separation conditions, so that the mineral particles with different densities can be separated.
2. The flotation separation.
The flotation separation is based on the difference between the physical and chemical properties of the mineral surfaces to separate the materials. Through the processing of flotation reagent, the useful minerals will selectively attach to the bubble, achieving the purpose of separating.
The beneficiation for non-ferrous metal ores, such as copper, lead, zinc, sulfur, molybdenum miners usually uses the flotation separation; the beneficiation for certain ferrous metals, rare metals and non-metallic ores, such as graphite mine, apatite also uses the flotation separation.
3. The magnetic separation.
The magnetic separation is based on that different minerals get different mineral magnetic force in the magnetic field. Therefore, this method is mainly used for sorting ferrous; metal ores, such as iron, manganese, chromium; non-ferrous and rare metals.
4. The electrostatic separation.
The electrostatic separation is carried out in accordance with the difference of the mineral conductivity. When the mineral goes through the high-voltage electric field of the electrostatic separator, because the conductivity of the mineral is different, so the static electricity acts on the mineral is also different, and thus the mineral can be separated. The electrostatic separation is mainly used for separating the rare metals, non-ferrous metals and non-metallic ore. It is also used for the separation and selection of mixed coarse concentrate; such as the separation of scheelite and cassiterite, the selection of zircon, the selection of the tantalum-niobium ore, and so on.
