An exclusive partnership between Breitling and Govberg Jewelers offers this Chronomat 44 Special Edition timepiece, as a series of 50 limited edition pieces. The 44mm case is brushed steel with a high polished finish and a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback displaying its Breitling Caliber 01 movement. Basically the Chronomat 44 you know and love, but with a different set of dial colors. "Over the past twenty-five years, we have watched Breitling transition from http://www.mrjack.co.uk/breitling-watches-uk.html its ‘infancy’ to a horological superpower with a true cult following, " Third generation President & CEO of Govberg Jewelers Danny Govberg said. "We are honored to celebrate the Breitling collector community with such an exceptional timepiece. " For Govberg, this Breitling watch is "for the fans. "
These are just two in a wide (and growing) world of classically themed watches, or ones that are specific analogs of gems from the past. So if you see a vintage watch that looks great but you are concerned about its condition, you might have a modern interpretation of that watch that you can acquire that will give you the best of both worlds. I often look at older watches and think to my self how nice it would be to have them just a bit bigger, with a sapphire crystal, or perhaps with an automatic movement. Watch companies are getting the message, and you have more older styled watches being released all the Cheap Watches AAA+.
I was wondering what your take on these two concerns would be, particularly your take on the gold-plated hardware on the Breitling. I am not one to take my watch off ever. The only time I take it off is to clean it or to service it. I sleep with my watch on, shower with my watch on, swim, snorkel, perform chores–everything I do, my watch never leaves my wrist, not even when i am deep into the Pennsylvania woods “roughing it” camping. This new dial is pretty nice http://www.mrjack.co.uk/rolex-watches-uk.html, however. Note the addition of the “Swiss Made” Designation on the watch dial. Breitling is starting to re-incorporate this element.
Aside from being 44mm wide versus 42mm wide, the Superocean dial has been cleaned up and is now more legible. For comparison purposes you can check out the Breitling Superocean for 2010 here. The dial retains the core look of the watch that came out last year, but I think you'll agree it is more legible. There is more space between the hour markers, and more use of applied baton hour markers versus the stylized Arabic numerals. Or at least attempts to. British pop star Lily Allen, famous for her quick wit brazen attitude, advertised that she was selling her brand new Breitling Watch, a new-style Chronomat with white dial and Arabics, for 3200 UK Pounds. She said she paid 4400 Euros for it, but its was too big. I just got the most peculiar looking clock photos emailed to me in the mail today. A Breitling clock, with a wood box enclosure, and what appears to be an atomic radio-controlled clock. Based on the photos of the back, it is obviously a very old incarnation of the atomic clock, as new movements are quite a bit smaller. The clock does not function properly at the moment, and was asked as to value, which i haven’t a clue. I question it’s authenticity, as it does not look Breitling-like, but who knows what those folks were up to back then.
