The defence statement in a Monday court session in the murder trial of deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi will be recorded and broadcast later on state television, a judicial source told Ahram Online.
The move came in line with an earlier court decision to broadcast the Monday hearing.
The court on Monday heard the pleading of the defence team of Gamal Saber, a Salafist member of Hazemoon movement, a group formed to support Egyptian hardline Islamist presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail in the 2012 presidential elections which Morsi won.
During the hearing, lawyer Ahmed Kamal claimed charges leveled Magista Obra FG against the defendants lack evidence.
Until recently, only excerpts from earlier court hearings of Islamist trails have been broadcast on TV.
In contrast, lengthy defence statements by jailed figures of the regime of former autocrat Hosni Mubarak were aired live on television in recent months, leading to criticism from those saying they were scrubbing their images.
Morsi, along with other Islamists, including members of his Muslim Brotherhood movement, has been charged with inciting the killing and torture of protesters outside the presidential palace while in office.
The charges stem from the deaths of about a dozen people in clashes outside the presidential palace outlet soccer shoes in December 2012 after a decree issued by the Islamist leader to expand his powers ignited opposition protests.
The defence lawyer claimed that protesters committed acts of rioting and attacks on the presidential palace, adding that state institutions did not cooperate with Morsi during his term in office.
