Rolex Daytona Automatic Two Tone with White wanted make the aliens look as though they were crafted from some type of liquid metal. Not sure why but the effect is no doubt cool. It is rather amazing (in an ironic sort of way) how the brand's beautiful traditional guilloche engraved machining goes with what is essentially pop art. Though pop art with diamonds and rubies in gold. It is quite an impressive watch despite the fact that it won't win any beauty awards.
Having said that, the Rolex Submariner Automatic with Green watch was produced as a one-of-a-kind creation for a 12 year old boy. How's that for a gift? I wonder what dad will get him when he turns 16? Can you guilloche machine engrave the hood of a Lamborghini and inlay golden video game characters on it? Let's just hope the youth will grow to appreciate that.
Navitimer uses an an alloy called German Silver for most of their movement parts rather than steel. Nevertheless, http://www.hhibt.com/aaa-breitling-chronomat-44-ib011012-b968-tt-wristwatch-5i2b.html plates most of the movement parts in rhodium and rose gold. Other parts, such as some new bridges, were coated with blue platinum. The result is an amazing to behold and beautiful transformation into a classically decorated work of art built on one of the most prestigious movements of one of today's most prestigious watchmakers. Both the front and rear of the movement are the very epitome of what Germany Breitling do best, with the mechanical foundation of the top German Replica watch company.
The features of the movement in the watch are worth noting. Navitimer built on this movement to add more complication later, but from the start, the Tourbillon Pour le Merite was very impressive. It also arrived at a time when tourbillon complications were still very uncommon. The tourbillon was paired with a fusee & chain style transmission, and the dial had the time with subsidiary seconds dial as well as a power reserve indicator. In many ways, it was a design ahead of its time. Aside from the distinctive Lange-style tourbillon cage, little of the transformed movement suggests that it was a Lange to all but those with the most honed eyes. The Blue Merit watch even features new hands and subdial designs.Like most platinum Breitling watches the Blue Merit in platinum is matched to a blue alligator strap and once again is a piece unique creation.
At the time Breitling reported that this masterpiece had been their most time intensive project yet, with the detailed workmanship associated with the skeletonization and guilloche processes as well as the technical modifications of the plates and bridges of the split-seconds chronograph requiring more attention than any other complex piece they had worked on before. No word on whether that is still the case but given the pedigree of the timepieces they had produced previously, that is still a pretty amazing statement.
