ECO-DEX is a two stage (basecoat/clearcoat) versatile water-based deck and dock resurfacing system that yields a low glare, durable, slip resistant finish. All surfaces must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, mildew, algae, and other contaminants to ensure proper adhesion. Sand or scrape any loose stain or paint. Clean the surface with DEXCLEAN Marine Cleaner (follow product label instructions) and apply DEXTREAT per product label instructions. Do not apply this product to any surface that has been recently coated with paint, stain, sealer or water repellant.
GEL COAT/FIBERGLASS: Sand with 100-220 grit sandpaper to remove oxidation and gloss. Solvent clean with SR-002 Equipment/Surface Cleaner using the wipe on/wipe off method to remove grease, dust, and dirt.
WOOD: Sand any loose wood fibers. Loose deck screws, raised nail heads or loose decking boards should be secured. Apply DEXCLEAN Marine Cleaner to surface and let stand for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse the surface thoroughly (pressure washer is recommended) to remove loose dirt, mildew, and other contaminants. For resistance against fire, insects, and damaging microbes treat wood with DEXTREAT Wood Treating Sealer. Apply DEXTREAT and allow surface to completely dry before ECO-DEX application. The moisture content of the substrate should be less than 18% prior to ECO-DEX application.
CONCRETE: Application of DEXCLEAN Marine Cleaner and pressure washing is recommended. composite tongue and groove deck boards Patch cracks and depressions larger than ¼ inch with a concrete patching compound (follow manufacturer’s instructions). Do not use caulks or other non-concrete patching compounds.
Fiberglass, wood, and concrete surfaces must be thoroughly dry before application and there should be no threat of rain for 24 hours. Please use caution when applying around aquatic habitats to avoid spills.
