Introduction to the Reagents Used in Flotation Machine

The activator and regulator are the flotation reagents that are commonly used in the flotation separator. The regulator is mainly used to adjust the slurry pH, dispersion and agglomeration and to eliminate the effect of harmful ions.Ore-dressing equipments mainly include cement mill,ball mill,rotary dryer,flotation machine,etc.
The chemisorptive attachment of the collector to specific elements of the surface of mineral particles determines the selectivity of flotation. The hydrocarbon part of the collector molecule, which has an extremely weak attraction for water molecules, inhibits the hydration of the mineral surface, that is, the formation of a stable layer of water molecules. The addition of nonpolar liquids, such as oils and kerosine, to the pulp increases hydrophobicity. Sometimes a combination of various collectors is used for a more complete separation of the necessary minerals. The flotation of sulfide minerals, for example, galena, chalcopyrite, and sphalerite, most often involves the use of water-soluble salts of xanthic or dithiophosphoric acid, that is, xanthogenates or dithiophosphates. Nonsulfide minerals, such as apatite, fluorite, and natural phosphates, are usually floated with various fatty acids and their salts, for example, sodium oléate and sulfonic acid salts. The use of alkylhydroxamic acids and their salts appears promising. Reagents that are poorly soluble in water and that adhere to particles in the form of droplets are used in the flotation of naturally hydrophobic minerals, such as coal and native sulfur.
Activator mainly refers to the agent that is used to make the mineral surface easier to absorb the collecting agent. It can also be used to remove the inhibitory film on the mineral surface that will hinder the role of the collector.

The commonly used media regulators include the acid, alkali, water and so on. In the flotation practice, in order to increase the alkalinity of the slurry, the users commonly use the lime or sodium carbonate or caustic soda, sodium sulfide; to improve pulp acidity, the sulfate is the choice; to eliminate slime agglomeration, the sodium silicate, sodium carbonate or sodium sulfide can be added; to eliminate the effect of the harmful ions in the pulp, the soda and sodium sulfide are the choice. The main role of the media regulator is to adjust coal slimes; adjust pulp PH value and adjust the role of the activity of other agents.
The commonly used activator agents include the sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium sulfide, copper sulphate and soda.
1, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid has the activation effect of pyrite and chalcopyrite;
2, sodium sulfide can activate the cerussite;
3, copper sulfate can activate the sphalerite;
4, cerussite, malachite, calcite can be activated by soda.
