The actual ETA 7750 motion, also called the actual LABEL Heuer Calibre sixteen, is probably probably the most prosperous automated chronograph motion actually created. Although it is becoming trendy in order to respect the actual 7750 like a universal, “common” motion, the actual calibre is actually very easily in a position to fulfill COSC Chronometre requirements (within best specification) as well as are available in a variety of high-end view manufacturers, such as LABEL Heuer. However since the view globe prepares in order to tag the actual 40th wedding anniversary from the motion within 2014, from the LABEL Heuer viewpoint, the actual 7750 period is actually sketching to some near. {http://www.jwaggoner.com/} innovation in the early 1970s, discontinued during the quartz revolution of the mid-1970s, only to be revived in the mid-1980s as the industry stabilised.

Although Valjoux was the leader in manual-wind chronographs, it was slow to the self-winding party, appointing Edmond Capt to lead the development of a new movement in the early 1970s. Based on the manual-wind Valjoux 7733 (itself a descendent of the Venus 188), the 7750 was first available in watches in 1974, having been one of the first movements to be designed with the aid of a computer. A reliable, cost-effective calibre, the 7750 is relatively thick and large compared {http://www.edassll.com/} to its contemporary competitors. There is also a sonic signature: the sound of the rotor. The 7750 is mono-directional (only winds in one direction), and so has a relatively large and heavy oscillating weight that can reach high speeds when rotating in its non-winding direction. Because it free-spins in one direction, you can sometimes feel the movement “wobbling” on your wrist. It’s alive!

As a major customer of Valjoux’s manual wind movements during the 1960s, it was no surprise that Heuer would offer watches with the 7750 movement, despite having its own Calibre 11 engine. The 7750 first appeared in 1977, when Heuer launched two new models- the Kentucky (below) and the Pasadena. While the Kentucky had a relatively short life (1977, 1978), the Pasadena was available until the end of Heuer family ownership in 1982. So why did Heuer stop using the Valjoux 7750 {http://www.ceagency.co.uk/} in 1982? The reason was not so much that supplies had come to an end, but because of the involvement of Heuer’s new co-owner- Lemania. Other than the use of transmission belts in the movement, the big thing is the use of micro ball bearings instead of synthetic rubies between the gears and the movement plate. Tag Heuer claims that the ball bearings have less friction that the rubies. You also have the linear weight that serves as to winder the automatic movement. Basically, as you move your hand the weight moves up and down (as opposed to oscillating in circles). It does not have a lot of travel room as you can see, but Tag Heuer says the system works quite well. What is also impressive is just how accurate the movement is. Tag Heuer says that the movement deviates by just plus or minus 4 seconds a day. Well within Chronometer range.

Five years to be exact. Designers in the watch industry such as Ruchonnet are no doubt talented and inspired, but are often known for delivering "incomplete projects." What that means from a technical standpoint is that the Monaco V4 plan he gave to TAG Heuer was not for a working timepiece. Whatever credit is due him must be tempered with the notion that it was TAG Heuer itself that poured resources into the research and development necessary to get the automotive-themed movement to actually work. There was a serious plus side to this though, all the effort required to make the Monaco V4 a reality helped create a new high-end division at TAG Heuer..
